Headstone and Memorial Layouts
Once you have an idea of the wording you would like on the headstone or memorfial, we can make up a scaled layout. This will help to visualize what the finished headstone or memorial will look like and give you the opportunity to make changes to fonts, letter size and spacing (especially if the headstone or memorial will eventually include details of another person). Here are some examples.
Headstone and Memorial Traceries and Custom Artwork
Headstone and memorial Traceries are images, logos or designs that can be cut into the granite to help personalise the headstone. They may help reflect the personality, interests, or religious beliefs of your loved one.
We have built up a large database of headstone and memorial options to show you or you may have a unique line drawing or sketch that could be converted into a tracery. They can be finished in a single colour, multi-coloured, silver spray or in gold leaf. Custom artwork is developed from photos, sketches or ideas from the client.
A few examples are shown below.
Fonts
The choice of font for headstones and memorials is important. It has a major impact on the visual appearance of the headstone. Often the heading and finishing verse or epitaph are cut in a different font to the main headstones inscription.
The range of fonts is huge, but not all are good for headstone or memorial use, however if you have a particular preference we can advise on its suitability.
Shown at the right are some popular fonts used on headstones or memorials, with their names in
order of appearance below.
- Park Avenue
- Commercial Script
- Wedding Text
- Raphael
- Goudy Bold
